The citizens of Athena LOVE our parks! We have no shortage of outdoor gathering places in our home town for your personal, family, or group enjoyment. The heartbeat of the many dedicated groups and individuals who have created these various parks can be felt throughout the town. Please enjoy them! You are welcome to reserve the main large park for your event by calling City Hall.

The large Athena City park is open from dusk to dawn year round, with swimming pool access during the summer months, including swim lessons. In 2018 we completed renovations of the pool, and an all new pool house. Click Here to find out more about the swimming pool schedule. The park also has a covered event center that is open for public use at no charge, but must be reserved through City Hall. You can wander through the park under the large shady trees and enjoy the Memorial Rose Garden, or perhaps bring a picnic lunch to enjoy under the gazebo or at one of the picnic tables while your kids play on some of our new park equipment.

The Athena skate park was completed in 2002. Located on Main Street, the park offers a place for our youth to gather and have fun on skateboards while meeting and making new friends. Who knows…someday a budding Tony Hawk may get their start here? Well…until then…grab your boards and safety gear and come on down for some small town big fun!

The Athena Veterans Park is created and owned by the Athena American Legion Post #130 and Auxiliary. The park was started in 2017 for the purpose of honoring our veterans. The park is in its final phase of completion, and has been made possible entirely through grants and donations. This park is a testament to the love and honor Athena's citizens wish to give our veterans.THANK YOU to all who have served and are presently serving - this park is to honor you!

On the north side of town on Waterman Road is Athena Memorial Ballpark, home to the State Champion Athena Tigerscots Girls Softball and Triangle Little League Softball. The land for this park was donated by local citizens and contributors to the City of Athena in memory of Chris Munck. Since then, the City of Athena, Athena-Weston School District, Triangle Little League, and many local businesses and community members have donated countless hours and resources to develop this park which now includes three softball fields, batting cage, professional lighting systems and more. The snack shack and sprinkler system will be undergoing refurbishments and improvements in the near future as well.

Duggar Park is located on Athena’s Main street, across from the Post Office. Athena’s Garden Club headed by Traci King and Paula Babb took the lead in renovating the park and installing the beautiful and interesting art pieces you can see there. Every Tuesday from 4-7 pm during June and July, Duggar Park is home to the Tuesday Market, where local people can bring produce, crafts, and other great items to sell. The festive Tuesday Markets include raffle items and lively music.
